A singer by profession and training, Alexandra Taveras has an artistic career spanning more than three decades in the music industry.
Born in the Bronx, New York and of Dominican roots, the performer currently performs as a background vocalist in the orchestra of the Latin idol Marc Anthony and is also working on her newest musical project.
Like few others, Alexandra Taveras became a music and singing professional before working fully in that industry. First, she studied at La Guardia High School of Music & Performing Arts.
Upon graduation, she received a scholarship to attend the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she majored in Vocal Performance.
Alexandra officially began her artistic career in 1986 as the lead vocalist for the merengue group The New York Band. In 2016, the band received the Merit Award at the Premios Soberanos Dominican music ceremony, as part of a special tribute to her musical legacy.

In 1991, Alexandra collaborated with salsa giant Tito Nieves on the duet recording “How Do You Keep the Music Playing” from his album Déjame Vivir. In addition, she provided her vocals for Marc Anthony’s album “Libre” in 2001. Her work earned her membership as the only female member of Marc Anthony’s orchestra. Since then, she has toured the world with the salsa legend.

Alexandra signed with Universal Music Latin Entertainment in 2004. Under the production direction of Grammy Award winner Cucco Peña, she released her self-titled first solo album “Alexandra Taveras”. That same year she was invited to record on the album “Mambo of the times” with the legendary Tito Puente. With the versatility and undisputed vocal talent to sing different genres, Alexandra has performed on stages around the world with Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling artists such as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, Alejandro Sanz, Jennifer Lopez, Thalía, Chayanne, Gente De Zona, Milly Quezada, among others.
“A TEMPO BAND”
Parallel to her professional history as a singer in the Marc Anthony orchestra, Alexandra, and a few of her colleagues from the same orchestra, formed the group “A Tempo” during the confinement stage due to COVID-19. Given the desire to continue making music, they recorded from their homes production that began with the release of 4 songs. Alex recorded the Reik cover “Ya Me Entere” in the rhythm of Bachata and a salsa “Me Canse” a new hymn to female
empowerment, reaching wide recognition at the digital level.
Alexandra has music running through her veins. She will continue reaching for her dreams of bringing great music that inspires to all who will listen.
